On 26 January 2009 , TEI held a planning meeting for a seminar, “ Mekong knowledge base for sustainable development ”. The meeting was actively attended by representatives from related government agencies, academics, civil society organizations and private sector. Participants of the meeting brainstormed ideas and exchanged information to scope the topics to be discussed at the seminar, the resource persons to be invited and logistics arrangement. The seminar is planned to be held in mid-March and aim to systematize existing knowledge and information about water resource management in Mekong Basin from various sources and to make the knowledge and information becoming more accessible and acceptable by wider groups of people .
The planning meeting suggested the following topics for the seminar: 1) Water uses in Mekong Basin in Thailand, 2) Water supply management in Mekong Basin in Thailand and the river basin organizations (RBOs), 3) Ethnic, cultural and biological diversity in Mekong Basin, and 4) Thailand and regional collaboration in Mekong water resource management.
