Capacity building and empowerment of civil society are both the foundation and keystone of successful climate change adaptation regime, one which is conducive to sustainable development. Thailand Environment Institute (TEI) proposes to build a CSO platform on Climate Change Adaptation in the Mekong Sub-region. This initiative includes bridging dialogues at local, national and regional levels. It will start with national dialogues among CSOs and consequently scaling it up to sub-regional CSO dialogues and sub-regional multi-stakeholders dialogues, which will involve regional bodies especially the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS).

Impact::

The anticipated overall impacts of this project is that local communities in the Mekong Basin are more able to adapt or prepare themselves to respond to impacts of climate change than without the project. In particular, it is anticipated that this CSO platform will add significant value to and supplement SENSA-sponsored Regional Climate Adaptation Knowledge Platform for Asia. Also it will enable CSOs to walk their talk by implementing some strategic ideas in the field. Ultimately, it is expected that these proposed activities will strengthen CSOs and grassroots communities in the Mekong basin to successfully adapt to climate change.
