October 15, 2025: The Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), led by Dr. Jeeranuch Sakkhamduang, Specialist, together with the Royal Irrigation Department, the GIZ working team, and Dr. Harry Virahsawmy from Alluvium, co-organized the 6th Foundation Training on the "Implementation of Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Measures." The training was held under the "Enhancing climate resilience in Thailand through effective water management and sustainable agriculture" project, which is supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), at The Imperial Hotel and Convention Centre in Phitsanulok Province.
The objective was to enhance knowledge and understanding among relevant agencies and members of water user groups regarding the 6-step EbA integration process for water resource management. Mr. Phrommongkhon Chitchop, Expert in Irrigation Engineering (on Water Resource Development and Water Management in Basin Areas), Regional Irrigation Office 2, honored the event by giving the opening speech. Participants in the training included representatives from government agencies, the Royal Irrigation Department (central and regional), the Office of the National Water Resources, the Phitsanulok and Sukhothai Provincial Offices of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Water Resources, and water user groups from the Yom-Nan project area.
This training enhanced knowledge and understanding of key practices in construction, inspection, and work handover, to enable the joint development and mobilization of EbA measures in water resource management. It also provided an opportunity for participants to extensively exchange opinions and experiences, leading to the brainstorming of ideas and suggestions beneficial for enhancing operational efficiency in the future.
