Bangkok, 24 March 2026 — Thailand and the European Union convened a policy dialogue on circular economy cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bringing together government agencies, EU representatives, and the private sector.
The meeting was opened by Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, followed by Mr. Martijn Quinn, Deputy Head of Unit, DG Environment (European Commission), who shared the EU’s direction on circular economy policies.
Dr. Tanomlap Ratchawat and Dr. Nopparuth Ruengrangskul, from the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), joined the discussion as part of the technical community.
The dialogue highlighted Thailand’s regulatory progress, private sector readiness, and key challenges in adapting to emerging EU requirements, including carbon-related measures such as CBAM.
Reliable laboratory testing and credible, internationally recognized test results from Thailand were emphasized as essential to support industry compliance, build trust, and facilitate alignment with EU requirements.
The dialogue remains ongoing, with developments in Thailand–EU cooperation on circular economy and emerging regulations to be closely followed.
